Paul Zarian
Paul is responsible for development and acquisitions for Hines in the Carolinas. In this role, he provides market leadership to determine investment strategy, coordinate with the firms’ functional experts and internal funds, and source, capitalize, and execute Hines’ projects across all product types.
Since opening Hines’ Carolinas office in 2019, the platform has grown to encompass eleven acquisitions and development projects totaling four million square feet. Hines’ local activities include a variety of product types such as mixed-use, multifamily, office, retail and industrial. A few highlights include the firm’s first build-to-rent investment (Blu South in Charlotte), first suburban mixed-use village development (Fenton in Cary), first retail acquisition contemplating mixed-use densification (Waverly Place in Cary), and a new investment strategy that facilitated the acquisition and eventual redevelopment of suburban office (IBM 500 in Durham).
Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the Boards of DHIC and The Carying Place.
